We can’t get enough of these red carpet looks!
As awards season comes to a close, we pick our best dressed from the 93rd Academy Awards. Hint: there were lots of bright colours, crystals and sequins!
Zendaya shone a bright light over the Oscars red carpet in a custom Valentino gown. The canary yellow dress, which was inspired by Cher, featured a cut out at the midriff and was paired with Bulgari diamonds that sparkled around the ‘Euphoria’ stars neck. According to CNN Style, the dress has it’s own name Force de beauté and even glows in the dark!
Regina King dazzled on the red carpet in a structured, pale blue Louis Vuitton gown. It featured columns of Swarovski crystals (3,900 to be exact, a record breaking number according to Vogue) and wing-like, flared shoulders – an absolute dream.
Over the past few years, ‘boundaries’ have been pushed when it comes to men’s award show outfits. Gone are the days when an actor would be put on the best dressed list for wearing a black suit. LaKeith Stanfield definitely put a spin on the traditional tux. He walked the red carpet in a seventies style Saint Laurent, v-neck jumpsuit that featured a flared shirt collar and a belted waist.
Speaking of breaking boundries, Colman Domingo did just that in a bright fuchsia Atelier Versace suit! It featured Swarovski crystals, falling from the shoulders to the elbow, and gold buttons. The bold look definitely went against the ‘norm’!
Maria Bakalova has been serving us dreamy red carpet looks the entire award season, and the Oscars was no different. Her white Louis Vuitton gown holds resemblance to a cloud with its layered tulle skirt and plunging neckline. The look was completed with a breathtaking diamond necklace from Moussaieff Jewels.
The star of ‘Promising Young Woman’ turned heads in a gold, two piece Valentino set from the Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2021 collection. The look featured a shimmering gold bandeau top and a matching ballgown-like skirt.
The ‘Mank’ star showed up to the Oscars wearing a stunning bright red Valentino gown. The pleated red tulle was constructed to form a mermaid tail-like silhouette that featured a plunging v-neck. No one pulls off the old Hollywood style like Amanda Seyfried!
Andra Day pulled up to the Oscars wearing the second Cher-inspired look of the night! The shimmering asymmetric Vera Wang gown looked as if it had been effortlessly draped around Day’s body whilst still being extremely form-fitting – what a vision!
Halle Berry’s bowl-cut hairstyle was not to everyone’s taste. Luckily, we’re here to talk about the dress, which we loved! The strapless Dolce & Gabbana gown featured reems of billowing magenta fabric, a plunging neck-line and peplum-style skirt detailing.
Bright colours were a recurring theme on last nights carpet and H.E.R. did not disappoint! According to Insider, ‘the bright blue, semi-sheer jumpsuit (by Dundas) was inspired by Prince’s shimmering look at the 1985 Academy Awards’. The look also featured a hooded cape and was embellished from top to bottom with blue sequins.
Leslie Odom Jr. & Nicolette Robinson
Leslie Odom Jr. is another advocate for banishing the boring black tux and went for a head to toe gold look in a metallic Brioni suit. His wife, Nicolette Robinson, looked stunning in a black, form-fitting Zuhair Murad gown that featured a thigh-high split. The couple’s outfits were on opposite ends of the award-show-style spectrum but they compliment each other so well!
Emerald Fennell has been on top form this award season and last night was no different! She walked the carpet in a pink and green floral Gucci gown with sequin detailing. The dress reminded us that florals can in fact be groundbreaking for spring (sorry Miranda Priestly fans, we had to say it!).
Last but not least we have Tiara Thomas, who amazed us in a white Jovana Lewis trouser suit. It featured an oversized blazer with feather detailing, and flared white trousers. The look was completed with a breathtaking diamond lariat necklace.
When it comes to red carpet looks, the 93rd Academy Awards did not disappoint! We would like to give props to the seamstresses that spent hours upon hours sewing thousands of Swarovski crystals onto these incredible outfits, some of which will definitely go down in fashion history!
