We owe these stylists credit for creating some of our favourite celebrity looks.
Celebrities are our go-to for fashion inspiration. It could be because they are everywhere but some of them genuinely have incredible style. Whilst we’re sure that these celebrities have a say and put creative input into what they wear, there are some of the most innovative (and fashion obsessed) people behind the scenes – a.k.a celebrity stylists.
Samantha Burkhart is the woman behind Billie Eilish’s oversized (and ever-changing) style. She styled the green and black Gucci look that Billie wore whilst winning her first Grammy in 2020 and the iconic baggy Chanel suit that she wore to the 2020 Oscars. Burkhart also styled Billie’s 2019 Variety cover shoot and her Beats by Dre video commercials. Alongside styling the Grammys winner, Burkharts portfolio includes looks created for Hunter Schafer, Katy Perry, Sia, Rosalía and Grimes. Her incredible work has also been featured in Rolling Stone, Nylon, Billboard, GQ, The New Yorker and Flaunt. With a roster of incredible singers wearing incredible clothes, its no wonder Samantha Burkhart was named ‘musics biggest stylist’ by WWD.
Jahleel Weaver is the stylist behind the celebrity style icon and pop star, Rihanna. There isn’t a day go by when the Savage x Fenty CEO isn’t popping up on social media. Whether it be a new look gone viral or unforgettable outfits of the past doing the rounds, she is a constant source of fashion inspo. However, most of our favourite Rihanna looks wouldn’t exist if it wasn’t for Jahleel Weaver. He made his way into the fashion industry by assisting Mel Ottenburg, who styled Rihanna from 2005 onwards, and hasn’t stopped since. Fast forward to today, Jahleel is the Fenty style director and was the brains behind Rihanna’s iconic full crystallized body suit Coachella look.
Mimi Cuttrell is to whom we owe thanks for Ariana Grande’s incredible outfits. The latest being her breathtaking custom Vera Wang wedding look. She also styled the ‘Positions’ music video and album cover and the ’34 + 35′ music video, to name a couple. Aside from styling an undercover celebrity wedding, Mimi has created looks for Normani, Ava Max, Bella and Gigi Hadid and Nicki Minaj. She has styled covers for Vogue India, Vogue Living Australia and Schon Magazine as well as video commercial for Bvlgari. She also styled Priyanka Chopra for both her own wedding to Nick Jonas and the royal wedding back in 2018! If that’s not enough, she also had her own capsule collection with denim brand 3×1.
Dua Lipa is musics latest fashion queen and Lorenzo Posocco is the man behind the looks. His most recent work sparked ‘love it or hate it’ internet debate. We are, of course, talking about Dua Lipa’s custom Vivienne Westwood look for the BRITs that was worn on the red carpet before she performed in a bold Union Jack blazer. Lorenzo is responsible for Dua’s sudden leap to fashion icon by dressing her in some of the biggest high fashion labels. The most memorable being the 2021 Grammy’s Versace butterfly dress and the crystal-embellished Mugler bodysuit at Studio 2054, alongside her recent BRITs look (obviously). Lorenzo got his start working as a stylist assistant for MTV, he then worked as a fashion editor for 5 years before realising he preferred styling celebrities. Aside from styling Britain’s biggest pop star, Lorenzo has also styled for Vogue Spain, Vanity Fair, GQ and Glamour and has worked with Helmut Lang, Nike and Stella McCartney.
You can’t scroll on Pinterest without seeing Hailey Bieber and it is extremely rare to find a ‘street style’ board that doesn’t have her on it. Stylist Maeve Reilly is to whom we owe credit for feeding us with endless model off-duty inspo. Maeve is also behind a certain A-listers style evolution – Megan Fox. Everyone say ‘thank you Maeve’ for giving us Megan Fox in a hot pink Mach and Mach jumpsuit at the recent iHeart Radio Awards. She has curated an instantly recognisable style for Hailey Bieber and has completely changed the street style game. Aside from being the street style queen, Maeve has worked with Vogue, Billboard and Vanity Fair (to name a few) and has done advertisement for Pepsi and Covergirl. She has also appeared on TV on E! News and Fashion Police.
Harry Styles is known for his “boundary-pushing” style almost as much as he is known for his music. That is thanks to Harry Lambert who finds and puts together unique pieces (or should we say Gucci pieces) for Harry Styles distinctive outfits. He is known for styling androgynous looks for his clients. Lambert has also worked with ‘The Crown’ stars Emma Corrin and Josh O’Connor as well as styling an advert for M.A.C and editorials for Style and Beauty Papers. Some of his work can even be seen on film as has styled videos for artist Byron Spencer. If you want a breathtaking and intriguing androgynous look, Harry Lambert is the person to look to for inspiration.
These stylists know the ins and outs of the fashion industry and are the people behind viral fashion trends trends and internet-breaking outfits. Oh to have the power they hold!
